Self Directed Learning Foundation

-- Learning is Intrinsic, Education is Forced --

Read carefully below case studies:-

  1. Mast. X went for Nursery & KG. His parents don't believe in conventional schooling. They didn't take admission for him in school. Mast. X is unschooling from past 10 years.
  2. Ms. Y studied up to 2nd standard in school. Her parents were unsatisfied with school system. They discontinued her school. Ms. Y is homeschooling from past 8 years.
  3. Mast. Z studied up to 4th standard in primary school of his remote tribal village. He wanted to study further, however his family's economic condition was very poor. Moreover, nearest secondary school was about 7 kms, from his village. Unwillingly, he left school and started helping his father. He is out of school system for 6 years.

These 3 candidates are now above 14 years of age. Can they appear for 10th standard public board exam directly, without again going back to school?

Most of you would say, sorry, not possible. They will have to go back to school and complete their backlog schooling up to 10th standard. However, Govt. of India has made a provision for them. Unbelievable, but, it's true.

NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), governed by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development), Govt. of India, is a central open education board, which allows candidates with minimum 14 years of age to enrol directly for 10th standard exam.
